Drop in crime index since January ?

The crime index in the country for the first four months of this year shows a drop as a result of initiatives under the National Key Result Areas (NKRA).

Deputy Home Minister Abu Seman Yusop said the crime index dropped by 15.35 per cent and street crimes by 38.7 per cent compared with the corresponding period last year.

According to statistics, he said, 59,661 crime cases were reported between January and April this year, from 70,481 cases during the same period last year.

For street crimes, the number of cases reported was 8,209 from 12,391 cases last year, he added.

Meanwhile, according to the Star,Selangor police chief Khalid Abu Bakar found today that his official car was stolen.

DCP Khalid’s driver who parked the Perdana V6 near a restaurant in Section 9 here when having his breakfast found the car missing half-an-hour later at about 8.30am today.

He immediately lodged a report at the district police headquarters.

DCP Khalid, who is overseas attending a meeting, confirmed that his official car had been stolen.

He said his driver was quizzed by the investigating team.

Even police chief is not immune to crime, huh ?
